Education Gap Grows
Monday, February 13, 2012
It does not surprise me that there is such a gap in education between the rich and poor. The rich have more time and money to spend on their children's education. Those with a higher income usually have two parents working and more man power to focus on their children's school work and activities. More often than not those with a higher income can put their children in some kind of early education program, which in turn will also give the richer students more of a head start of the lower income children. It mentioned in the article how low income families are usually run by a single parent. This will also add to the suffering of the lower income children's education. With a single parent the child or children will not get as much time and attention spent on them as a child with both parents will. This I believe will greatly affect a child's education. I think it is sad and unfair for the children because it's not their fault they have a single parent, less income, or not being able to get into an early education program. However, like the article said there is not much that can be done about the situations and the education gap will most likely continue to grow.
